Kids Eat Right

This is a link to information regarding the recent approval of the “Improving Child Nutrition Integrity & Access Act of 2016”. It contains information regarding how the bill impacts child nutrition and child hunger.

Here is a link to other policy initiatives that the Academy supports to promote adequate nutrition in children:

National Public Health Week is April 4-10, 2016. This year, the focus is on building healthy, happy families. Perhaps this is a forum that could be used to promote child health.

Finally, at the link below you can find ready-made toolkits and actions needed/suggested by the Academy to promote child health. I find the Action Plan at the bottom of the page particularly useful for providing ideas regarding actions to take to promote child health.

*******************************

This joint Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics/Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation Initiative focuses on a quality nutrition approach for all children, recognizing that children can be underweight, healthy weight, overweight or obese and still be lacking consumption of vital nutrients need for optimal growth and development, and that simply reducing calories in the food supply does not improve diet quality.  Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics members participating as Campaign Volunteers will select actions they can perform in schools, communities and with families that promote the foods kids need more of.  Actions may nudge you outside of your comfort zone, or could be ones you currently do in your work and volunteer time.  Many resources to complete suggested actions are available to Campaign Volunteers.   Look for fun incentives, recognition, and CPE and grant opportunities for Campaign Volunteers.  Visit www.kidseatright.org/volunteer for more information and to sign up as a Campaign Volunteer!  Also check out our new website for the public aimed at helping families shop smart, cook healthy and eat right at:  http://kidseatright.org.
